Tony Luciano - R/CMTRA Pres. Carmen Bermudez Luciano R/CMTRA Vice Pres. The Radio Control Monster Truck Racing Association (R/CMTRA) was founded in 1994. Before then back in 1987 the Clodbuster was created by MRC Tamiya in which at that time they were one company until they decide to split and go there ways. Now, MRC stayed in New Jersey while Tamiya took off to California. In 1988, E&E Hobby Shop was created and E&E Motor Sports was a racing organization that promoted R/C Racing. E&E Hobby Shop which was also a link to E&E Motor Sports only lasted about 3 years. The last racing event took place in 1991. The hobby shop closed down and E&E Motor Sports came to an end. During the next 3 years many of us still had our Clodbuster Kits but were only running them for fun. There wasn't any serious competition in the east coast with those trucks. In late 1993 I (R/CMTRA President) decided to create The Radio Control Monster Truck Racing Association (RCMTRA) for 1994. In doing so, the organization ran for 3 years. The last event in 1996 came to an end because of financial backing and the amount of work and time one was required to put into this type of organization in which had taken its toll on me. So, that led for the R/CMTRA to take a sabbatical. In 2000, planning for a come back was in the works. Scouting locations to sanction an event was a big task. A task that had taken a lot of energy and funds. As we struggled in trying to hammer down a location to promote our come back event. We finally were able to find that location in Long Island, New York at a facility named South Shore Hobby & Raceway for 2001. The owner Benny & Bonny Falco gave us the opportunity to put together our come back event. In 2001 we were able to sanction 2 major races at South Shore and 5 local events within different facilities available. The interest began to grow as we began receiving numerous calls and e-mails about our club and the races we sanctioned. The next task was getting the sponsorship backing from the corporate R/C manufactures. Once again, a huge task to tackle. As i performed numerous contacts in getting sponsors to partake in our events and organization, this task was not an easy one. I worked day and night trying to gather up as many sponsors as possible for our events. Updating websites, creating posters and flyers as advertisement for the events, and using funding from my own savings in putting the events together. The 2001 season turned out to be pretty good. As the pictures of the events were being posted within our site we began receiving a lot more interest in our organization. The come back events were successful. Late in 2001 and early 2002 The R/CMTRA began scouting for more locations. We were able to lock down a location in Chester, New York where the World Finals would take place and become Home of The R/CMTRA World Finals. Until this date we have had a 5 year running at the facilities named, Barnstormers R/C Raceway. 2006 will bring us to a 6 year run in Chester, New York. We are now up to 13 events per year and more coming. RCE - MS Group is not a hobby shop but a promotion company of R/C Monster & Truck Racing. We look for facilities in which we can promote racing events. The following classes of racing are sanctioned at our events: Big Block , Small Block, 1/8th scale truck, stadium truck in gas & electric, 1/8th scale buggy, E - Maxx racing, and Side-By-Side R/C Monster Truck Racing (Clodbuster, TXT - 1, & USA - 1 Kits). Under the United States Radio Control Organization Banner we sanction the Renegades R/C Monster Truck Challenge Series, The U.S. Radio Control Monster Truck Fest Series, The Thunder Series Nationals, and The U.S. Truck Series Show-N-Shine Nationals. The R/CMTRA banner we sanction the Radio Control Professional Monster Truck Racing Series (R/CPRO - MT) and The R/CMTRA WORLD FINALS. The hardest part of promotions is gathering up the sponsors for the events. It seems that if you are not ROAR, NORRCA, or IFMAR you are in for a treacherous journey. Having The Radio Control Entertainment - Motor Sports Group & The R/CMTRA working together i believe will bring assistance to our organization in promoting our events. I wish for everyone to pass the word about our organization to all those hobby enthusiasts and companies so that we can present an exciting event for everyone.
